Flash Sale!

Here is your last chance to score a photo session this year at an amazing discount. This is my THE-KIDS-ARE-GOING-BACK-TO-SCHOOL-SO-IT’S-TIME-TO-GET-BACK-TO-WORK-SLASH-TIME-TO-UPDATE-MY-PORTFOLIO sale :) How’s that for a title!?

I’ll be honest here, I see my shooting style/interest changing since I first started this little gig a few years ago and I am interested in updating my portfolio. You can use this for any kind of session except at home newborn sessions, and well only because we all know those itty bitty babies take forever to cooperate! So if you enjoy my work, this is really the last chance to book a session at this rate. Lately, I am loving the little in-between, unposed, less proppy, more documentary style sessions (think newborn hospital and relaxed at home sessions) so if you are interested in something along those lines, please, please pick me! See me raising my hand there? Of course we can still do the outdoorsy sessions for those of you that are interested, especially with the holidays sneaking up on us soon.

There are only a few sessions available at this rate, so if you are interested, reserve your session immediately with that handy Paypal button down below! If you have questions, shoot me an email at: hello@sugarandartphotography.com.

2017 Session

The newest addition to my little family, Tristan, born just one day before my birthday this past April and quite possibly the best birthday gift I have ever received. Life has been a bit chaotic with the constant feedings and sleep deprivation, but even when I am knee deep in the craziness of it all, I feel incredibly blessed. Yes, even on those days when I almost forget to feed the girls their lunch, or when I beg for 10 minutes of me time, just to rest my eyes. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in this world. There are so many feelings knowing that he is our last baby. I know that the all to familiar newborn cry will turn into a full blown cry soon. And that the way he keeps his hands closed and his legs curled when he sleeps on my chest will come to an end soon too. This time in my life, or this season as some may call it, it’s really all too bittersweet but yet filled with so much love. We love this little guy so very much.

So while I navigate life now with a husband, three kids, and a dog, I also do plan on getting back to my photography. I have so much to catch up on, but if you are interested in photos, keep your eyes open for some exciting news soon! For those of you who took advantage of my flash sale earlier this year, I look forward to seeing you soon!

Mia Turns FIVE

hosuston photographer

It’s almost hard to believe, but my girl turns FIVE today. When Cassie turned five, I felt so different. Five seemed like such a big number for such a little person. It was bittersweet, but I knew she was ready….ready for kindergarten, she wanted to get her ears pierced. She’s always had that teenager-trapped-in-a-little-body attitude. And then there’s my Mia, a Mama’s girl through and through. She comes to my bed almost every single night looking for a cuddle. I have to remind her that “baby” talk isn’t going to work once she gets to kindergarten and in no way, shape, or form does she want to get her ears pierced yet. These days, she’s still into watching videos on the ipad, Minecraft, and chasing her sister (and Cassie’s friends!) outside, and loving on “her” dog Teddy. She worries a lot for someone her age too. She worries about everything, whether it be about Welo (my Dad) dying to her hair being out of place. She’s also very particular about her handwriting but can put her mind to anything. She knows how to ride her big girl bike without training wheels and recently learned how to tie her shoelaces. She amazes me sometimes! She can be very demanding at times, but she can be very thoughtful and shares a deep love for all of us. I remember when she was itty bitty, she would randomly ask any one of us, “are you happy?” and now that has somehow turned into:

“Mama?” ——>(or Cassie or Papa)

“yes, Mia?”

“I love you.”

And that’s it, she leaves it at that.

Five is going to be a big year for her. She’s had to give up her room to share one with Cassie, and her baby brother arrives in exactly three weeks. She’s going from being the baby to the middle child and as excited as I am for our new addition, I can’t help but feel a little sad for my girl. Something tells me she’s going to need some extra cuddles in the coming months and I am a-ok with that.

So to my Meena, happy birthday…Mama loves you very much and has a heart big enough for you, your sister, and your brother. Please don’t ever forget that.

And as usual, here are some fun tidbits:

Who is your best friend? Cassie.

What is your favorite food? Chicken (as in fajita chicken).

What is your favorite TV show? Popular MMO’s on youtube…don’t ask!

What is your favorite color? Pink.

What is your favorite song? “Rockabye” by Clean Bandit; I think mostly because she sings it to Teddy :)

What do you wish for? A baby!

What do you want to be when you grow up? A firefighter or a doctor!

2016 Holiday Mini Session

Love in the #EaDo

A couple of notes about this first: these were taken almost a year ago in honor of their 10 year wedding anniversary. They are the cutest couple and you cannot help but fall in love with their love for one another. Or their adorable pup, or their adorable little home that they’ve put so much love and hard work into.

I first met K a few years ago when she was Cassie’s preschool teacher. Cassie was about three years old and was having trouble adjusting to her new routine. The rest of the teachers were okay, but there was something about Ms. K that made her feel at ease. She was the sweetest and did her best to bring Cassie out of her shell. Over the years, we remained friends through social media and I was thrilled when she reached out to me last year.

I hung out in their adorable house, we talked about work and school, and crafting. I got a little history lesson on how they first met, when they were married. It’s was like meeting a new/old friend all over again.

Afterwards, we went for a drive and *literally* chased the sun before it went down. Thank you I for driving us around and putting up with our shenanigans! xo
