Cassie is five. And just like all of her past birthdays, it makes me sad and happy at the same time. Happy because she is so bright and full of spunk and watching her do and learn new things makes me so proud. Sad because she starts kindy this fall and I am going to terribly miss spending my days with her. Even the days when the non-stop chatter drives me up the wall. The times when I ask her to whisper because we have had a full day of talking and shouting and laughing and yelling, and she doesn’t know how to.
She’s had to adjust to a lot of changes since baby sister arrived last year but for the most part has handled things really well. I’m amazed at how mature she can be sometimes and watching her interact with Mia makes my heart swell. Some mornings she is the first one to wake up just so she can beat us to Mia’s crib. There is no doubt she loves her baby sister dearly.
And just like last year, some tidbits about Cassie at 5 years old:
Who is your best friend? Paige. And Mikey!
What is your favorite food? Broccoli!
What is your favorite TV show? Jessie.
What is your favorite color? Purple.
What is your favorite song? Taylor Swift’s “We are never getting back together.”
What do you wish for? That the four of us stay together forever. <—-oh how I wish for the same.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A doctor!
To my big 5 year old, thank you for letting me drag you out of bed at 6:00 a.m. just for these photos. Happy birthday my love.
